6 recalls across 19 model years
The Isuzu N-Series has 6 recalls spanning 2001 through 2024, with the most serious being a fire risk on 2001-2013 models equipped with the optional oil pan block heater, where the extension cord can overheat and melt the heater plug, potentially igniting a fire.
On the most recent production years, 2023-2024 gas-engine models (NPR Gas, NPR HD Gas, NQR Gas, and NRR Gas trims) have ignition coil pack fuses that can corrode, causing engine misfires and sudden loss of power. The 2022-2023 NQR and NRR models that were modified with extended wheelbases of 200 or 212 inches have a calibration issue: the anti-lock brake module and optional automatic emergency braking camera were not recalibrated after the frame stretch, meaning the automatic emergency braking and electronic stability control systems may not function correctly. Separately within 2022 production, NQR Gas and NRR Gas trucks with the 6.0L engine have a wiring harness connected incorrectly to the oil pressure sensor, so the driver receives no warning when oil pressure drops, which can lead to an engine stall.
Going back to 2017-2019 models, N-GAS HD and Low Cab Forward 3500 and 4500 variants have a power supply bolt in the relay box that may not have been fully tightened, which can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly. The 2018-2019 FTR and Low Cab Forward 6500XD share this same wiring concern. On 2013 automatic-transmission models built between March and August 2012, a transmission retaining ring can work free from the clutch drum while driving, cutting forward drive power and leaving the vehicle stalled in traffic.
