Summary
The Kawasaki Ninja 250R has 4 recalls covering the 2008 and 2009 model years, with the most serious being a brake hose defect on 2008 models where the hose can contact the front fork under compression, wear through, and leak brake fluid, reducing or eliminating front braking ability.
On 2009 models, an engine oil leak can drip or spray onto the rear tire, reducing traction and creating a significant risk of losing control. On 2008 models, a blocked crankcase vent in the air cleaner case can allow pressure to build inside the engine and push the cylinder head cover gasket out of position, which can lead to oil leaks or engine damage. Also on 2008 models, the taillight bulb can fail prematurely, leaving the motorcycle invisible to following traffic at night or in low visibility conditions.
