3 recalls across 1 model year
The Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic has 3 recalls, all affecting the 2003 model year, with the most serious being a fuel tank that can crack at its mounting tabs and leak fuel, creating a fire risk if that fuel contacts an ignition source.
The engine oil system has a related concern: during cold starts, the oil pressure relief valve can react slowly, letting pressure spike high enough to deform the bottom plate of the oil filter. When that happens, oil leaks out and can reach the rear tire, raising the risk of a crash. There is also a muffler bracket that can crack and allow the muffler to loosen and eventually separate from the motorcycle while riding, creating a hazard for the rider and surrounding traffic.
