The Kawasaki ZX1002A has 1 recall covering 2018-2020 Ninja H2 SX, Ninja H2 SX SE, and 2019-2020 Ninja H2 SX SE+ models, where a gap in the engine control unit's software allows the engine to rev to high RPM during a gear misengagement, potentially locking up the engine and causing a crash. When a gear fails to engage cleanly, the software cannot pull back engine revs, which can damage the gears themselves and prevent further shifting. If the transmission seizes in this condition, the rider loses drive control abruptly. The remedy involves updated ECU programming to give the software the ability to suppress excessive RPM when a misengagement occurs.
