Summary
The Kia Carnival has 10 recalls covering 2022-2026 model years, with the most serious being a fuel pipe connection that can leak fuel at the fuel rail on 2022-2026 vehicles, creating a fire risk.
Several other recalls also involve fire risks. On 2022-2023 models equipped with a tow hitch harness installed at the factory or purchased through a dealership, water can reach the harness module's circuit board and cause an electrical short that starts a fire while parked or driving. On 2022 models only, an accessory 4-pin trailer wiring harness with a specific part number can short circuit over time and overheat the control module, with fire possible even when the vehicle is off. Two additional fuel system issues affect 2022 models: a damaged plastic fuel rail tube can leak fuel, and crossover fuel pipe nuts that were not fully tightened can allow fuel to escape, both raising fire risk.
The power sliding door accounts for several 2022-2023 recalls. On 2022-2023 vehicles, the door's auto-reverse feature may not activate in all situations, so the door can close on an occupant rather than stopping and reversing. A related issue on 2022 models involves the door's remote controller assembly malfunctioning and preventing the door from latching, which can allow it to swing open while the vehicle is moving. The 2022 models also have a structural latch concern where the passenger-side sliding door may not engage fully, and instrument cluster warnings and an alert chime may be the only indication before the door opens in motion.
Rounding out the 2022-only issues, the roof trim may not be properly attached and can separate from the vehicle at speed, creating a road hazard for other drivers.
