2022 KIA CARNIVAL Recalls Canada & USA – Major League Recalls
2022 KIA CARNIVAL Recalls — Canada & USA
Summary
The 2022 Kia Carnival has 10 recalls, the most serious being multiple fuel leak and fire risks, including a loose connection at the fuel rail, an improperly tightened crossover fuel pipe, and a damaged fuel rail tube that can each allow fuel to escape near ignition sources.
Vehicles equipped with a tow hitch wiring harness also carry a separate fire risk: water or a short circuit in the harness can ignite a fire even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. This applies to harnesses installed as original equipment or purchased through a dealer.
Several recalls involve the passenger-side power sliding door. The door latch or its remote controller assembly can malfunction, allowing the door to swing open while the vehicle is moving. A related concern is that the door's auto-reverse feature may not activate when the door contacts an obstruction, which means the door can close on a person rather than stopping and reversing. Finally, roof trim that is not properly secured can detach from the vehicle while driving, creating a hazard for other road users.
On certain vehicles, the nuts for the crossover fuel pipe may not have been properly tightened. As a result, fuel could leak.
Safety Risk
A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and tighten the nuts or replace the high-pressure crossover fuel pipe, as necessary.
Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2022-2026 Carnival vehicles. Fuel may leak at the pipe connection between the fuel pipe and fuel rail.

In certain situations, the power sliding door may not stop and reverse if it is blocked.
Safety Risk
A power sliding door that doesn't stop when it is blocked could pinch a person and create a risk of injury.
Remedy
Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to update the power sliding door control module software. The update will add two (2) warning chimes when the power sliding door begins to open or close, and change the door speed to move more slowly before the door latches.
Certain vehicles may be equipped with a 4-pin accessory trailer wiring harness kit that could fail. Over time, this could result in a short circuit that can cause the control module to overheat.
Note: This recall only affects Kia Genuine 4-pin tow hitch wiring harness kits with the part number R0F67AC200. These kits may have been ordered at the time of a vehicle purchase or purchased separately from a dealer as an aftermarket accessory.
Safety Risk
A short circuit can create a fire risk, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off.
Remedy
Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the vehicle for a trailer wiring harness kit. If necessary, the dealer will install a 15A fuse and a wire extension kit. Kia advises that if your vehicle has a tow hitch harness installed, you should park it outdoors, and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed.
Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Carnival vehicles equipped with a tow hitch harness installed as original equipment, or purchased as an accessory through a Kia dealership. Water accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.
Safety Risk
A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy
Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the remedy is completed. Dealers will inspect and verify whether the vehicle is equipped with a Genuine Kia accessory trailer tow hitch assembly. If equipped, dealers will install a new fuse and wire extension kit.
