The 2003 Lincoln Aviator has 3 recalls, the most serious being a transmission shifter cable that can slip off its bracket and cause the gear indicator to show the wrong position, including showing Park when the vehicle is not actually in Park.
When the indicator reads Park but the transmission is in a different gear, the vehicle can roll away after the driver exits, believing it is safely parked. There is also a lighting issue: when the driver activates either the left or right turn signal, both daytime running lights switch off entirely rather than just the one on the signaling side, reducing the vehicle's visibility to other drivers and pedestrians during turns or lane changes.
