The 1999 Lincoln Town Car has 4 recalls, the most serious involving front seat belt assemblies on both the driver and passenger sides that may fail to hold an occupant in a crash.
These recalls affect vehicles where aftermarket seat belt assemblies were installed using parts sold through Ford dealerships during early 2000; those belts do not meet federal seat belt standards and can fail to restrain occupants in a collision. One recall applies only to limousines stretched more than 60 inches: the added vehicle weight can exceed the maximum load rating for the tires, raising the risk of premature wear or a blowout. There is also a concern with the jacking instructions included with these vehicles, where following the printed directions for raising a rear wheel could lead to the jack being placed on a frame weld, which can give way and cause injury to anyone underneath the vehicle.
