A battery cable contains a fusible link that can rub against a crossmember bolt beneath the vehicle. Over time, that chafing wears through the cable's insulation, generating heat that can start a fire. On the steering side, certain vehicles where the upper intermediate steering shaft was previously replaced under an earlier recall may have had that shaft installed incorrectly. If the shaft separates while driving, the steering wheel loses its connection to the front wheels entirely, leaving the driver unable to steer. The third recall is a compliance issue: the daytime running lamps were not activated at the factory, so they do not come on automatically as required. Normal headlights and all other lighting functions are unaffected, but the vehicle does not meet Canadian lighting standards as built.
