The 2007 Mazda Mazda3 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving the driver-side airbag: the plastic steering wheel emblem can shatter during deployment and send fragments into the cabin, raising the risk of injury to occupants.
Two recalls cover the power steering system. On certain vehicles with electric power steering, the assist can cut out without warning while driving, making the wheel significantly harder to turn than the driver expects. On vehicles equipped with electro-hydraulic power steering, rust particles can break loose inside the high-pressure steering pipe and damage the pump bearings, which can also lead to a loss of power steering assist.
