The 2007 Mazda3 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving the driver's airbag: when the airbag deploys, the plastic emblem on the steering wheel cover can shatter and send plastic fragments flying toward the driver and front occupants.
Two recalls address power steering. On vehicles with the electric power assist system, steering assist can cut out without warning while driving, making the wheel suddenly much harder to turn than the driver expects and raising the risk of a crash. On vehicles equipped with electro-hydraulic power steering, rust particles inside a high-pressure steering pipe can break loose and travel into the motorized pump, wearing out the pump bearings and potentially degrading steering response over time.
