7 recalls across 7 model years
The McLaren GT has 7 recalls spanning 2019 through 2025, with the most serious being a brake line routing defect on 2020-2025 models where the lines can activate the wrong side's brakes, potentially locking a rear wheel and causing the driver to lose control.
The 2020 model year carries several additional concerns. A banjo bolt in the brake assembly may be missing the internal holes that deliver fluid to one caliper, causing that corner to lose braking force and pulling the vehicle to one side under braking. Separately, foam padding beneath the fuel tank can trap moisture, corrode the tank, and cause a fuel leak that raises the risk of fire near an ignition source. There is also a hood latch issue on 2020-2023 models where the manual release cable carries too much tension, allowing the latch to release on its own and the hood to fly open while driving, blocking the driver's view entirely.
On the occupant protection side, 2019-2021 models have a recall for an improperly connected driver's airbag circuit, where a loose or misconnected plug between the airbag and its control module can prevent the airbag from deploying in a crash. This issue was also identified on 2019 models specifically, where the airbag connector may not lock into place and can work loose over time with the same result.
