4 recalls across 2 model years
The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe has 4 recalls covering 2016 and 2018 model years, with the most serious affecting 2016 vehicles where rear drive shaft bolts can loosen and allow the drive shaft to separate from the transmission, causing sudden loss of drive power while moving.
The 2018 model year has a brake system issue where gas bubbles can form in the rear brake fluid, producing a soft or spongy pedal feel and reduced stopping ability. On 2016 models, two additional issues apply. Rear head restraints can fail to stay locked upright when temperatures drop to around -20°C or colder, reducing neck protection in a crash. There is also a structural concern where excess insulation material near the bulkhead can extend into the lower windshield area, which affects the vehicle's compliance with occupant protection standards for frontal impacts.
