Mercedes-Benz Gle400 Recalls

The Mercedes-Benz GLE400 has 9 recalls covering the 2016-2017 model years, with the most serious being water intrusion into the fuel pump control module on 2016-2017 vehicles that can cause the engine to stall without warning while driving, raising the risk of a crash.

Two separate airbag concerns affect 2016 models. The passenger seat sensor that determines whether the front airbag should deploy can malfunction, and a separate issue with the front passenger airbag inflator module can also prevent proper deployment in a crash. Both leave the front passenger with reduced protection. Also on 2016 models, water can enter the electric power steering control unit and deactivate the power assist, making the steering wheel significantly harder to turn. A front suspension oil leak on 2016 vehicles can allow oil to reach an ignition source and start a fire.

The 2017 model year has a door latch that can appear locked while still allowing the door to open unexpectedly. Both 2016 and 2017 models have recalls tied to the emergency call system: a software fault can cause the system to report an incorrect vehicle location to emergency responders after a crash, delaying their arrival. A narrow production window of 2016-2017 vehicles built in late October and November 2015 has low-beam headlights that may be aimed incorrectly, reducing forward visibility at night.
