Mercedes-Benz Gle550e Recalls

The Mercedes-Benz GLE550e has 8 recalls covering the 2016-2017 model years, with the most serious being water intrusion into the fuel pump control module that can cause the engine to stall while driving, raising the risk of a crash.

On 2016 models, water can also enter the electric power steering control unit and deactivate power steering assist, making the vehicle significantly harder to steer. A separate 2016 issue involves the front passenger seat sensor failing to correctly classify the occupant, which can prevent the front passenger airbag from deploying in a crash.

The 2017 model year has two latch-related recalls: a door latch that can allow a door to open even when it appears locked, and a center console latch that can release in a crash and allow unsecured objects to fly around the cabin and strike occupants.

Both model years share a tire pressure label on the B-pillar that lists incorrect tire dimensions and seating capacity. Fitting the wrong tire size based on that label can throw off the speedometer reading. There are also two recalls tied to the emergency call system: on 2016 models a software fault can cause the system to report an incorrect timestamp, and on 2017 models the system can fail outright, both of which can send emergency responders to the wrong location after a crash.
