The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLE550e has 5 recalls, the most serious involving water that can collect in the spare tire well and damage the fuel pump control unit, causing the engine to stall while driving.
Two recalls involve latches. A door latch defect can allow a door that appears locked to open unexpectedly, raising the risk of occupant ejection or injury. Separately, the center console latch can release in a crash, sending loose objects flying around the cabin. There is also a concern with the automatic crash notification system: if the vehicle is in a collision, the eCall feature can report the wrong location to emergency responders, delaying assistance. A label recall specific to this model notes that the tire pressure placard on the B-pillar lists incorrect seating capacity and tire dimensions, and fitting the wrong tire size can throw off the speedometer reading.
