Mercedes-Benz Gle63s Recalls

The Mercedes-Benz GLE63S has 7 recalls covering the 2016-2017 model years, with the most serious being a front suspension oil leak on 2016 models where oil escaping near an ignition source can start a fire.

The 2016 model year also carries two separate airbag concerns. The front passenger seat sensor can misread the occupant and cause the passenger airbag to skip deployment in a crash, leaving the front passenger without that protection. A separate issue affects the passenger frontal airbag inflator, which can also fail to function correctly in a crash with the same result. There is also a 2016 electric power steering recall where water can enter the steering control unit and cut off power assist, making the steering wheel significantly harder to turn. A software fault in the emergency call system on 2016 models can cause the system to report an incorrect vehicle location to emergency responders, potentially delaying their arrival.

On 2017 models, the center console latch can release in a crash, allowing unsecured items inside to become projectiles in the cabin. A door latch issue also affects 2017 vehicles where a door that appears locked can swing open unexpectedly, raising the risk of occupants falling out or being struck by the door.
