The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE63S has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a front suspension oil leak that can ignite if it contacts an ignition source, raising the risk of a vehicle fire.
Two recalls address airbag concerns: the passenger seat sensor that determines whether the front passenger is an adult may not function correctly, causing the front airbag to skip deployment in a crash, and separately, the front passenger airbag inflator itself can fail to perform as designed in a crash, both leaving the front passenger without proper protection. The electric power steering system can lose assist if water gets into its control unit, making the steering noticeably heavier and harder to manage, particularly at low speeds or in parking situations. There is also a software fault in the emergency call system where an incorrect date and time can cause it to report the wrong vehicle location to emergency responders, potentially delaying help after a crash.
