2 recalls across 3 model years
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Bus has 2 recalls affecting 2007-2009 model years, both involving wheelchair lift equipment where a failure to restrain occupants properly can result in injury during loading or unloading.
On 2007-2009 buses fitted with Ricon public use lifts, a design issue with the restraint belt means the lift can begin moving even when the belt tongue is not fully latched, leaving the user unprotected. On 2008-2009 buses equipped with Braun Century-2 and Vista-2 wheelchair lifts, the outer barrier roll stop latches can bend or fall out of alignment over time, allowing a wheelchair to ride over or bypass the barrier.
