1993 MERCURY VILLAGER Recalls — Canada & USA

The 1993 Mercury Villager has 5 recalls, with the most serious being three separate fire risks: a cut fuel filler hose that can leak fuel near ignition sources, a cracked fuel vent hose that can leak fuel when the tank heats up after a short trip, and debris that enters the heater and air conditioning blower housing and can ignite at the blower motor resistor. On the brake side, the master cylinder can leak internally, causing two of the four wheel brakes to lose hydraulic pressure. The result is a longer pedal travel, more effort needed to stop, and significantly extended stopping distances. There is also a restraint concern: the bolts securing the automatic shoulder belt tracks to the door pillars may not be fully tightened, which can reduce the belt's holding strength in a crash.
