MINI CLUBMAN Recalls

The MINI Clubman has 4 recalls covering the 2016 and 2017 model years, with the most serious being a side curtain airbag defect on 2016-2017 vehicles where the airbags can fail to inflate correctly in a crash, leaving front seat occupants without intended head and side protection. A separate airbag issue on 2016 models involves the fabric cover of the side curtain airbags not being pre-perforated correctly, which can prevent the airbag from deploying at all during a side impact. There is also a recall for certain aftermarket Class 1 trailer hitches sold for 2016 models where the vehicle's mounting structure may not support the hitch adequately, causing it to sag or separate from the vehicle under load, which raises the risk of a crash. On 2016 models, the rear inner brake lights embedded in the bumper can switch off when the turn signal is activated, reducing visibility to following drivers when braking and signaling at the same time.
