3 recalls across 2 model years
The Mitsubishi Expo has 3 recalls spanning the 1992–1996 production run, with the most serious affecting 1992 all-wheel-drive models where the transfer case can seize from insufficient lubrication, causing sudden loss of vehicle control. The 1996 model year has a separate issue where the radiator upper hose is inadequately clamped, allowing engine forces to pull the hose free, spill coolant, and cause the engine to overheat. On 1992 models, there is also a door latch switch defect where excess lubrication deforms the rubber switch cover and causes the motorized shoulder belt to stay anchored at the door pillar when the door closes, leaving an occupant without proper upper-body restraint in a crash.
