10 recalls across 13 model years
The Mitsubishi Mirage has 10 recalls covering 2014 through 2018 model years, with the most serious affecting 2014 vehicles where replacement rear brake drums sold through dealers may have oversized wheel stud holes that prevent proper wheel tightening, raising the risk of a wheel separating from the vehicle while driving.
The most widespread issue across this production run involves the airbag control module misreading road vibrations or flat tire conditions as a sensor fault, which shuts off the entire airbag system and prevents deployment in a crash. This problem spans 2014 through 2018 models, with the 2017 Mirage G4 sedan also covered separately. On 2014 and 2015 models, a corroded connector near the front airbag wiring can delay frontal airbag deployment for the driver and front passenger in a crash. There is also a wiring harness connector near the driver's footrest on 2014 models that can corrode from road salt exposure, triggering multiple warning lights including the airbag system warning.
On 2017 models equipped with high-intensity discharge headlamps, the horizontal adjustment locking clips may not be properly secured, allowing the headlight aim to shift and either reduce the driver's forward visibility or direct glare into oncoming traffic.
