The 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage has 7 recalls, the most serious involving replacement rear brake drums with oversized wheel stud holes that can allow a wheel to loosen and separate from the vehicle, potentially striking other vehicles or people.
The remaining recalls all center on the airbag system. A wiring harness connector near the driver's footrest can corrode from road salt exposure, which can delay or prevent frontal airbag deployment in a crash. Separately, the airbag control module's internal sensor can misread vibrations from rough roads or a flat tire as a system fault and shut down the airbags entirely, leaving them unable to deploy when needed. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve these airbag issues, which is why multiple filings exist for the same underlying problems.
