4 recalls across 4 model years
The Mitsubishi Raider has 4 recalls covering the 2006–2009 model years, the most serious being a Takata-related airbag inflator defect on all 2006–2009 vehicles where the driver's frontal airbag inflator can rupture during deployment and send metal fragments into the cabin, potentially striking the driver or passengers.
The passenger-side frontal airbag inflator on 2006–2009 models carries the same rupture risk, with metal fragments able to reach occupants during a crash. Both airbag issues stem from the same underlying inflator problem and affect the full production run of the model.
On 2006 models specifically, the four-wheel ABS control module can disrupt front-to-rear brake balance during certain braking conditions, causing the rear brakes to lock up prematurely and the vehicle to lose directional control without warning. Also limited to 2006 models, a static electricity discharge from the driver touching the vehicle can cause the turn signals, headlights, or windshield wipers to stop working unexpectedly, reducing visibility and signaling capability while driving.
