The 2021 model year has two additional safety concerns. The rear seat belt locking retractor can deactivate too early when securing a child seat, leaving the seat less restrained in a crash than it should be. Separately on 2021 models, the liftgate hinges can pull away from the body during a rear-end collision, reducing the protection the liftgate provides to rear passengers.
