The 2005 Nissan Sentra has 6 recalls, the most serious being a passenger-side airbag inflator that can explode and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.
The airbag issue has a history of incomplete prior repairs: certain vehicles were previously inspected but may not have had the defective inflator replaced, meaning prior service may not have resolved the problem. On the fuel side, a vapor hose inside the fuel tank can develop a gap at its connector, allowing fuel to overflow through the vapor canister and spill onto the ground when parked with a full tank. Spilled fuel near an ignition source raises the risk of fire. There is also an engine concern that only affects vehicles with the 2.5L engine: the crankshaft position sensor can overheat and briefly lose its signal, which can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly without warning.
