40 recalls across 19 model years
The Nissan Titan has 40 recalls spanning the 2004–2024 model years, with the most serious recent issue being a 2024 driver's airbag inflator that can absorb moisture and deploy improperly in a crash, potentially failing to protect the driver.
The 2024 model year also has a recall where the airbag control unit may be missing a mounting spacer, allowing the fastener to loosen and the unit to shift out of position, which can delay or prevent airbag deployment in a crash. That same spacer issue also affects 2021 models.
On 2022 models, the infotainment system can reboot continuously after the vehicle restarts, leaving the rearview camera display blank while backing up. A separate software issue on certain 2022 rental vehicles causes the same blank-camera result when the SiriusXM subscription is set to inactive. The 2020–2021 model years have front turn signal bulbs that can crack and stop illuminating, removing the signal to other drivers and pedestrians.
The transmission parking pawl is a recurring concern across 2020–2023 models: when shifted into park, the pawl may not engage, allowing the vehicle to roll away if the parking brake is not set. The 2020 model year also has two separate wiring harness recalls where exposed or damaged wires can cause an electrical short, leading to engine stall or fire risk. The 2017–2019 model years share a similar alternator harness defect that can short, drain the battery, stall the engine, or start a fire. On 2018–2021 models, certain Continental tires can develop sidewall cracks or tread separation from an over-curing defect, causing sudden air loss. The 2023 model year has a related tire bead tear that can also cause rapid pressure loss and loss of control. The 2013–2015 model years have a driver's airbag inflator that can rupture during deployment and send metal fragments into the cabin. The 2008–2011 model years have a steering wheel emblem that can crack and detach during airbag deployment, becoming a projectile. On 2016–2017 Crew Cab models, the rear seatbelt assembly may not adequately restrain an occupant's head in a crash, allowing contact with a trim cap on the door pillar. The 2013 model year has a brake master cylinder that can malfunction and extend stopping distances. Also on 2013 models, the column-mounted shift lever can be shifted out of park unintentionally, risking a rollaway.
Going further back, the 2006 model year has a missing weld on the right rear door upper latch that can allow the door to come partially open while driving. The 2004 model year carries several issues: the column shifter assembly can fail to hold the lever in park, risking an unintended rollaway; wires routed through the rear doors on King Cab models can break from repeated bending as the door opens and closes, disabling seatbelt pretensioners and the passenger seat occupant sensor; the rear center seatbelt on Crew Cab models can lock in automatic mode and become unusable; and the rear pillar seatbelt anchor area may not absorb enough energy in a crash.
