Summary
The Nissan Titan has 32 recalls spanning 2004 through 2024, with the most serious recent issue being a loose airbag control unit on 2021 and 2024 models where a missing spacer allows the fastener to work free, potentially preventing airbags from deploying in a crash.
On 2020-2023 models, the transmission parking pawl can fail to engage when shifted into park, allowing the truck to roll away if the parking brake is not set. The 2020 model year also has a separate wiring harness concern where an exposed wire can cause an electrical short or arcing, stalling the engine or creating a fire risk. The 2021-2022 model years have a software issue where canceling a satellite radio subscription can cause the infotainment system to reboot and leave the rearview camera inoperative while backing up.
In the 2017-2019 range, the alternator wiring harness can sustain damage that causes a short circuit, leading to flickering lights, battery drain, engine stall, and fire risk. The 2018-2021 model years carry a tire concern involving Continental tires that were cured too long during production, which can cause sidewall cracking, tread separation, and sudden air loss. The 2016-2017 Crew Cab and Titan XD Crew Cab have a rear seatbelt assembly that may not adequately protect an occupant's head in a crash, allowing contact with a trim cap on the seatbelt anchor. On 2016 Titan XD Diesel models, a breather tube cap left in place during assembly can cause the fuel gauge to read incorrectly, leaving the driver unaware the tank is near empty.
Going back to the 2013 model year, a brake master cylinder can malfunction and extend stopping distances, and a separate column-shift mechanism can fail to hold the lever in park, risking rollaway. The 2006 model year has a rear door latch missing a weld on the right side, which can allow the door to open partially while driving.
The 2004 model year carries several issues: King Cab door wiring routed through the rear door hinges can break from repeated bending, disabling the seatbelt pretensioners and passenger seat occupant sensor; a column-shifter assembly can fail to hold the lever in park; and Crew Cab rear center seatbelts can become stuck in automatic locking mode and be rendered unusable. Several label compliance recalls affect 2012-2018 models involving tire capacity, load capacity, and rim size information, and 2019 models with LED headlights may have incorrect aiming marks that cause the beams to be set improperly during servicing.
