The 2017 Nissan Versa has 3 recalls, the most serious involving a key ignition system that can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly while driving, raising the risk of a crash.
Two recalls involve airbag performance. The passenger frontal airbag has a ring plate that secures the airbag cushion to the assembly, and if that plate fails, the bag may not deploy correctly in a crash, reducing the protection it provides to the front passenger. The side curtain airbags on certain vehicles built within a narrow window in August 2016 have a fabric seam that can tear during deployment, which may prevent the curtain from inflating fully along the side windows and leaving occupants less protected in a side impact.
