The 2017 Nissan Versa has 3 recalls, the most serious involving the ignition system, where a key-based ignition can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly while driving, raising the risk of a crash.
Two recalls involve the airbags. On the passenger side, a ring plate that secures the airbag cushion to the frontal airbag assembly can fail, causing the bag to deploy incorrectly in a crash and reducing the protection it provides. There is also a concern with the side curtain airbags on vehicles built in a narrow window in August 2016: a seam in the fabric can tear during deployment, which can prevent the curtain from inflating properly and leave occupants less protected in a side impact.
