Recalls 1 and 3 both point to the same underlying transmission problem: a shift cable locking plate that can become brittle and break. When this happens, the gear selector and the indicator on the dashboard may appear to move normally, but the transmission does not actually follow. A driver who selects Drive may find the vehicle is still in Reverse, or the transmission may be stuck in Park entirely despite the lever showing a different position. Either scenario can lead to a crash or leave the driver unable to move the vehicle.
The fourth recall affects vehicles with four- or six-cylinder engines and involves the fuel pump terminal on the fuel-sending unit. A crack in the plastic molding around that terminal allows moisture in, which corrodes the metal strip underneath. Over time, enough corrosion can cause the terminal to break entirely, cutting power to the fuel pump and stalling the engine.
