The 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix has 5 recalls, the most serious being a fire risk from engine oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold, which can ignite under the hood.
On the structural side, the right rear body mounts may have been built with cracks or voids that can worsen over time, eventually causing both rear mounts to detach from the frame. Warning signs include creaking, groaning, or clicking noises from the rear of the vehicle. Two brake recalls affect the front and rear ends: front brake caliper bolts may not have been properly torqued and can back out or fracture, potentially allowing the caliper to move and reducing braking force, and a rear brake hose fitting may not be fully tightened, allowing brake fluid to leak, dropping the pedal lower than normal and lengthening stopping distances.
