10 recalls across 11 model years
The Porsche Panamera 4 has 10 recalls covering 2011 through 2021 model years, with the most serious recent issue being a coolant pump electrical short on 2017-2021 vehicles that can allow moisture to enter the pump and start a fire.
The 2021 model year has a separate structural concern: front lower trailing arms that were not forged correctly can fracture while driving, causing sudden loss of vehicle control. On 2018-2020 models, the lower seat belt anchor on outboard rear seats may not have been tightened properly at the factory and can pull free in a crash, leaving rear passengers without effective restraint. The 2018 model year also has two lower-severity issues: an electrical fault that can impair driveability, and a brake pad wear sensor that may fail to alert the driver when pads are worn down to the point where stopping distances grow significantly.
Going back to mid-production years, the 2016 model has an airbag control unit that can be damaged by an electrical fault, either preventing the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners from firing in a crash or triggering them without any impact. The 2011-2016 model years carry two additional concerns: a transmission gear position indicator that may not accurately reflect whether the vehicle is in Park, allowing it to roll away when the driver exits, and a separate electrical short that raises the risk of fire.
Earlier production from 2011-2012 has camshaft controllers that can work loose inside the engine and cause a sudden stall while driving. The 2011-2016 model years are also subject to a headlight aim recall, where improperly adjusted beams can either leave the road poorly lit or create glare for oncoming traffic.
