12 recalls across 12 model years
The Porsche Panamera 4S has 12 recalls spanning 2010 through 2021, with the most serious recent issue affecting 2021 models where front lower trailing arms were not forged correctly and can break while driving, causing sudden loss of vehicle control.
The 2017-2021 model years carry a fire risk from moisture entering the external coolant pump for the climate control system, which can cause an electrical short circuit. A separate electrical short circuit issue also affects 2010-2016 models and similarly raises the risk of fire. On 2021 models, rear seatbelt retractors may not properly secure a child restraint system in a crash. Also on 2021 models, the transmission gear position display can misrepresent the selected gear, and if the driver exits without engaging park or the parking brake, the vehicle can roll away unexpectedly. This same gear position indication issue affects 2010-2016 models as well.
On 2017-2018 models, certain rear suspension components can shift unexpectedly and alter the vehicle's handling without warning. The 2017 model year has a power steering fault that can cause the steering to suddenly require much more effort, particularly at low speeds. On 2017-2018 models, the brake pad wear indicator can fail to alert the driver when pads are worn down, leaving the driver without adequate stopping power. A 2018 electrical issue can impair driveability.
Going back to 2010-2012 models, camshaft controllers can come loose inside the engine and cause a stall while driving. On 2010 models only, the front seat seatbelt mount can detach from its anchor when the seat is moved to an extreme position, leaving an occupant unrestrained in a crash. The 2010-2016 model years also have a headlight adjustment issue where lights may not properly illuminate the road ahead or can create glare for oncoming drivers.
