Summary
The Porsche Taycan has 27 recalls covering 2020 through 2026 model years, with the most serious being front brake hoses on 2020-2025 vehicles that can crack, leak fluid, and extend stopping distances. The high-voltage battery is the other recurring concern across nearly the full production run. On 2020-2024 models, battery modules can short circuit internally, raising the risk of fire, and prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue across multiple campaign expansions. Separately, 2020 vehicles have a high-voltage battery that can admit liquid through an improperly sealed housing, causing internal arcing and a fire risk. These battery fire concerns collectively represent the most persistent issue across the model's history.
On the chassis side, the air suspension strut retaining ring can work loose and allow the strut to drop, affecting ride height and handling. This affects 2021 models on one end and 2025-2026 models on the other. A related issue on 2021 vehicles involves loose suspension fasteners that can cause components to detach and destabilize the vehicle. On 2020 models, loose rear axle control arm connections can similarly fail and cause a loss of stability. The 2020-2021 model years also have a brake booster pressure input rod that can detach and cause the brake pedal to go inactive.
The powertrain software has generated multiple recalls. On 2020-2021 models, monitoring software can incorrectly detect a fault and shut down drive power without warning. A separate software issue on 2020 models can also cut drive power suddenly, with a restart possible via the ignition button.
For occupant safety equipment, a passenger seat sensor error on 2022-2023 vehicles can deactivate the front passenger airbag. On 2020-2021 models, the seat wiring harness can be damaged during horizontal seat adjustment, which can also disable airbags. Child seat anchor access is blocked on 2020-2021 vehicles equipped with an optional rear center seat, where the center seatbelt buckle wiring obstructs the lower anchor points.
Several lower-severity recalls round out the picture. The 2024 model year has incorrect headlight control software that can cause parking lights to behave incorrectly when turn signals are active. On 2025 models, the rearview camera can fail to display immediately when shifting into reverse, and a separate software issue can prevent the image from displaying at all while backing up. On 2020-2022 models, the center screen can go black after startup or display a flickering bird's-eye view image, obscuring camera-assisted driving functions. Those same years have an instrument cluster that shows a brake pad wear warning in the wrong color, which can be misread and lead to driving on worn pads. The 2020-2021 model years have a pre-collision hazard light system that can activate in normal driving, potentially confusing other drivers.
