The Renault 18 has 4 recalls, all affecting the 1981 model year, with the most serious being fuel system issues where a restricted or contaminated fuel supply can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly while driving. Two additional fuel-related recalls round out the safety picture for these vehicles: a fuel line near the tank can develop a leak, and loose fuel line connections near the engine can also leak, both of which raise the risk of fuel reaching hot engine components. The fourth recall covers engine compartment wiring that may not be properly routed or secured, allowing wires to contact other components and cause electrical faults or, in the worst case, an engine compartment fire.
