3 recalls across 1 model year
The Renault Medallion has 3 recalls, all affecting the 1988 model year, with the most serious being a fuse block wiring defect where loose terminals at the heater blower motor fuse can overheat and ignite the fuse block and surrounding wiring, starting a fire inside the instrument panel. A second equally serious issue involves the throttle cable's over-travel spring, which can slip out of place and cause the throttle to open beyond the idle position, sending engine speed upward unexpectedly and making the vehicle difficult to control. There is also a heater core end cap that can crack and fail, releasing steam from the cooling system into the passenger compartment and reducing the driver's forward visibility.
