The 2014 Subaru Forester has 3 recalls, the most serious being a driver's side floor mat that can curl upward and interfere with the clutch, brake, or accelerator pedals, creating a crash risk.
The floor mat defect stems from backing material that does not meet specification, causing the mat to deform under heat. A curled mat can catch a foot mid-transfer between pedals, delaying brake application and extending stopping distance. There is also a brake light switch recall: the switch can fail to reliably illuminate the brake lights when the pedal is pressed, meaning following drivers may not receive a visual warning that the vehicle is slowing or stopping.
