2017 Toyota 86

The 2017 Toyota 86 has two recalls, the more serious being an ignition key defect on automatic transmission models where the key can be removed while the transmission is not in Park, leaving the vehicle free to roll away.

This recall only affects vehicles built between July 1 and August 11, 2016, with an automatic transmission and a traditional ignition key; models with a push-button start or manual transmission are not affected. When the key can be pulled out before the shifter is in Park, the vehicle has no lock holding it in place, which creates a rollaway risk that can injure occupants or pedestrians nearby. The second recall involves spare tires that were shipped without being inflated to the pressure printed on the tire pressure label. A spare that is underinflated or overinflated can handle differently than expected, increasing the chance of losing control if it needs to be used on the road.
