What can fail
A small crack can form on the steering lock bar in the interlock system. With repeated use, this crack may grow and eventually cause the bar to break. A broken bar could jam the steering lock when parked, or shift toward the steering shaft during right turns, potentially engaging suddenly and locking the steering wheel.
What the fix does
The dealer will replace the entire steering interlock device.
