2001 Toyota Highlander

The 2001 Toyota Highlander has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the fuel system, where a breather hose clamp on top of the fuel tank can fail in a crash and potentially compromise fuel containment. The brake recalls, which appear as two filings for the same issue, involve the brake master cylinder reservoir cap drawing air into the brake fluid, which causes a spongy, longer pedal stroke and extended stopping distances. There is also a child safety lock concern: slamming either rear side door while the child lock lever is engaged can knock the lever out of the locked position, leaving the rear doors operable from inside by a child.
