4 recalls across 8 model years
The Toyota Prius Plug-In has 4 recalls, with the most serious recent issue affecting 2025-2026 models where water can enter a rear door switch, short it out, and allow an unlocked rear door to swing open while the vehicle is moving.
On 2025 models equipped with the Panoramic View Monitor system, a software error can cause the rearview camera to freeze or go blank when the vehicle is in reverse, reducing the driver's view behind the vehicle. Going back to the 2012-2015 model years, the hybrid battery contains an EV fuse that can fracture after repeated high-load driving such as climbing long grades, shutting down the hybrid system and cutting power while in motion. The 2010-2012 models have a curtain airbag inflator with a weld that can crack, allowing one or both inflator pieces to eject into the passenger cabin during deployment.
