The 2019 Toyota Prius has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the brake booster pump, which can fail and cause loss of braking assist along with deactivation of the stability control system, raising the risk of a crash.
Two recalls address the same instrument cluster issue: an electrical short circuit can cause the speedometer, odometer, and fuel gauge to go blank while driving, leaving the driver without speed or fuel level information. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue, which is why two separate campaigns exist for this defect. The remaining recall affects the load capacity label on certain vehicles distributed through Gulf States Toyota, where the label text can become illegible over time, making it harder to know the vehicle's maximum safe load.
