2019 Toyota Sequoia

The 2019 Toyota Sequoia has 5 recalls, the most serious being a fuel pump failure that can stall the engine without warning while driving, raising the risk of a crash.

The fuel pump defect covers the same underlying problem addressed across multiple repair campaigns, and prior repair attempts did not fully resolve it for all affected vehicles. The pump can lose the ability to deliver fuel consistently, cutting engine power at any speed with little or no warning to the driver.

On the safety systems side, the airbag control unit can misread a fault during the startup self-check and disable the airbags as a result. In a crash, this means the airbags may not deploy at all, leaving occupants without that layer of protection. There is also a power steering concern: the hydraulic steering gear assembly can develop an internal oil leak, and if enough fluid escapes, the power assist can drop away suddenly, making the steering wheel significantly harder to turn, particularly at low speeds or when parking. Note that this power steering recall covers a wide range of model years and is not unique to the 2019 model.

Rounding out the list is a label issue specific to vehicles distributed through Gulf States Toyota: the load capacity label inside the door jamb can fade or become illegible over time. If a driver cannot read the rated load limit, they may unknowingly exceed the vehicle's safe cargo or passenger weight, which affects handling and braking.
