The 2016 Toyota Sienna has 4 recalls, the most serious affecting mobility van conversions where rear brake hoses or brake line fittings can fail and cause a significant loss of braking power, raising the risk of a crash.
Both brake recalls apply only to vehicles converted into wheelchair-accessible or mobility vans: in one, rear brake hoses routed too short can rub against the axle and wear through; in another, incorrect brake line fittings can drop pressure in the rear braking circuit. On the occupant safety side, a narrow window of vehicles built over a few days in February 2016 may have incorrect front seatbelt height adjusters that can tear away from the B-pillar in a crash, leaving the occupant without proper restraint. There is also a door concern across a wide range of model years: if a power sliding door is stuck, such as when frozen shut, it can later open on its own without warning, including while the vehicle is moving.
