The 2009 Toyota Tundra has 5 recalls, the most serious being two separate fire risks: a power window switch that can overheat and melt if moisture or debris enter it, and an aftermarket seat heater whose heating element can short circuit and ignite.
On the steering side, the power steering gear assembly can develop an oil leak that causes sudden loss of power assist, making the truck significantly harder to steer. The seat heater recall applies only to vehicles equipped with aftermarket heated seats distributed through certain regional Toyota distributors. There are also two recalls covering the tire pressure monitoring system, which can fail to warn the driver when one or more tires are underinflated, leaving the vehicle running on low tires without any indication on the dashboard.
