6 recalls across 8 model years
The Triumph Street Twin has 6 recalls covering 2016 through 2022, with the most serious being a 2022 model year wiring defect where the connection between the alternator and main harness can short circuit and overheat, raising the risk of fire or a crash.
On 2019-2020 models, the wiring harness can be misrouted so that it contacts a lug on the frame's headstock, wearing through the insulation and causing the engine to stall without warning. On 2016-2018 models, the clutch cable can rub against the main harness cover and damage the wiring inside, which can knock out the headlight, turn signals, or cut engine power entirely. There is also a separate 2016-only issue where the clutch cable can contact and damage the main wiring harness directly, with the same consequences: loss of lighting or a sudden stall. A second 2016-only defect involves the fuel pump wiring inside the tank, where damaged insulation can allow fuel to travel down the harness and drip from the connector at the main harness junction, creating a fire risk near any electrical spark.
