The 2022 Volkswagen Golf R has 6 recalls, the most serious involving two separate fire risks: a loose engine cover that can melt against hot engine surfaces, and a coolant hose that can be damaged by the radiator mounting and leak, causing the engine to overheat.
Two recalls cover rear visibility: the rearview camera can display a blank or unresponsive image when shifting into reverse, and a separate software issue can cause the camera image to be delayed or fail to appear entirely. Both reduce the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle. There is also a sunroof concern, where an overly sensitive touch switch can trigger the sunroof to close on its own without the driver intending to activate it.
