The Volkswagen R32 has 1 recall affecting the 2008 model year, where the fuel tank ventilation valve can fail to stay fully closed under certain driving conditions combined with high ambient temperatures, allowing liquid fuel to migrate through the evaporative system and saturate the carbon canister, creating a fire risk if fuel contacts an ignition source. When the canister becomes saturated with liquid fuel rather than vapor, the excess can leak from the evaporative system in a form that can ignite. The defect affects approximately 5,000 2008 R32 vehicles.
