The 2025 Volvo EC40 has 3 recalls, the most serious being a brake failure risk where the vehicle can lose braking ability entirely while coasting downhill in "B" mode or One Pedal Drive.
The brake loss can occur during regenerative deceleration scenarios, leaving the driver without the ability to slow the vehicle and raising the risk of a collision. The remaining two recalls both concern the rearview camera, which can fail to display an image when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. Without that view, the driver has a reduced picture of what is directly behind the vehicle while backing up, increasing the chance of a back-over incident. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the camera issue, which is why two separate recall campaigns address what is essentially the same problem.
