The 2016 Volvo S80 has 3 recalls, the most serious being a blown fuse in the automatic stop-start system that can leave the engine unable to restart after it shuts off at a stoplight or in slow traffic.
When the stop-start system cuts the engine at an intersection and the starter motor fuse has failed, the car simply will not start again, leaving the vehicle stranded in a live traffic lane. The front seatbelt system is also affected by a separate recall: the belt's pretensioner can fail to properly secure the occupant in a crash, raising the risk of injury when the belt is needed most.
