The 2023 Volvo S90 has 3 recalls, the most serious being an engine control software error that can prevent the combustion engine from starting and, on hybrid models, cause the vehicle to lose drive power as the high-voltage battery drains.
The remaining two recalls describe the same underlying defect and can be treated as one issue: the rearview camera may fail to display an image when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, leaving the driver without a view of the area behind the car. This raises the risk of striking a pedestrian, cyclist, or obstacle that would otherwise be visible on screen. A software update addresses both the engine control and the rearview camera issues.
